NaPoWriMo: Day six. Playing with Form

napofeature2

Poetry writing month is a great chance to play around with different forms, and generally try new stuff.

Sometimes, with a more complex form, involving full-line repetends, I like to make up a template.

I was going to do a pantoum, started typing said template, and then decided, in a stroke of post-brutalist, disruptive modernity, that the template WOULD BE THE POEM.

I’m a genius…

PANTOUM OF DESPERATION

Line line line

Second second second

Blah blah blah

Something something

Second second second

Doodlebugs

Something something

Bollocks bollocks bollocks

Doodlebugs

The quick brown fox

Bollocks bollocks bollocks

Can’t take my eyes off of you

The quick brown fox

Jesus Christ on a four-man bob-sled

Can’t take my eyes off of you

Poetry poetry poetry

  1. This has so much to say about the Human Condition and the times in which we find ourselves – yet it is unpretentious and emotionally accessible. No critique can do justice to the power of this poem. We stand in the presence of greatness. Actually, I’m lying in bed, but you get my drift.
