Yesterday I was awake and busy for 24 hours non-stop. Which is my excuse for this being late.

One of the things I did in that time was see my 16 year old son off on a school trip to Japan.

And I did, actually, write this poem yesterday. I just didn’t get to post it.

And I haven’t written today’s!!

THE JAPAN TRIP

From the beginning

It’s been goodbye

To pregnancy

To breast feeding

To nappies

To packing school  lunches

To being called “mummy”

To baking pirate-ship birthday cakes

To automatic hugs and kisses

And now

To you

At gate 18

As you board Cathay Pacific.

This is the saddest job in the world

Motherhood
