Poetry Month

My Try Poetry Giveaway

It’s National Poetry Month. Which is possibly of only esoteric interest. But since I have a habit of calling myself a “poet”, I should live up to my moniker and participate. To this end I will be taking part in two activities, the first of which I present for your delectation today.

THE GREAT POETRY GIVEAWAY!!!

(yes…that’s enough with the “you’d HAVE to give it away” jokes…)

I will be giving away two books of poetry, from a random draw of all visitors, who have commented on my blog, anytime during the month of April. These two books are:

“Treasures of the Night” Jean Genet

“A Hot Pot of Roasted Poems” Rohitash Chandra

395 394

The Genet is a book I have owned since I was quite young, when I went through a phase of loving the darkness. I had read his novel “Querelle of Brest”, which captivated me from the opening line, and then decided to move onto some of his poetry As I have moved on from the person I was at the time, I would like to pass this book along.

The Chandra is a small book of poems I purchased whilst on holiday in Fiji. Chandra is the editor of The Blue Fog Journal, which is Fiji’s international, literary journal.

If you would like to go in the draw, then simply write the word “freebie” at the end of your comment. The winners will be selected, randomly, during the week beginning May 1st.

If you’d like more information about this fun event, or would like to participate yourself, then click on:

As I will also, in an act of pure insanity, be taking part in “30 Poems in 30 Days”, you will be blessed with a poem and a post, every day, during April.

I like to spread the insanity, as well as  the love!

  1. Great idea – and who doesn’t like a freebie? williams.alexandra@ymail.com

What an excellent idea! Happy Poetry Month! I have scribbled for my poetry muse for YEARS, most recently posting on facebook ‘Alexandra J Cornwell – Poet’. Last September I discovered the fun of ‘drabbles’ (100-word microfiction ‘Byron Short Fiction ‘Drabble’ Writers’), although I am finding much inspiration in the non-fiction areas. I suppose it has been my way of blogging, though am thinking now that I’ll have to get my blogsite organized and get on with getting organized to publish some of my scribbles properly. Hopefully in time to ‘play it forward’ next year!
    Alexandra
